New Tourist Attraction in Zagreb – Grič Tunnel

Sunday, 22 May 2016

The Croatian capital Zagreb will be richer with another tourist attraction this summer…

Work has started on Monday 18th April renovating Grič tunnel and will be complete in around 8 weeks time. The 350-metre long, 3-metre wide tunnel, located between Radićeva and Mesnička streets in the heart of the city centre, was originally used as a shelter during World War II.

Once complete, Grič tunnel will become a tourist attraction hosting a range of different cultural events. Two cultural projects planned for the tunnel, including a museum, have applied for EU funding.

Grič tunnel made international news during the 1990s when it was the location for the first “underground rave” party in Zagreb in 1993 during the war.
